Are The Advent AC Units A Compatible Replacement For A Duo-Therm AC?
Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/28/2024 >
Question:
I have 2 Duo-Therm AC units 59516.601 units on a Newmar Mountainaire, with a 4 button thermostat. One AC unit rear is working and the other is not since the control board 3106481 is not supplying power to the unit. Can I replace the unit with Advent ACM150 or ACDOM150? Or will I need to other parts replaced for it to work with the 4-button unit? What about replacing with Advent and controlling with supplied thermostat, does it come with it? Or do I have to replace both units and use Advent thermostat? What is the best solution without spending a lot? Thanks

Hello Murali, thanks for reaching out. We have actually discovered recently that they Advent AC units are not compatible replacements for the Duo-Therm AC units. Our best option for replacing the Duo-Therm is the Furrion # FR42PV. This comes with a 15K BTU AC unit, as well as the necessary conversion kit.
The only way to use an Advent unit like the # ACDOM150 is to replace the rooftop unit, the distribution box, controller and thermostat with Advent brand components. If you want to continue to use your current ceiling register and thermostat, the Furrion unit is the way to go.

Hey Murali, how did things turn out with the Furrion replacement for your Duo-Therm units on the Mountainaire? It’d be great to know if the conversion kit made the swap easier. Your update could help others deciding between Furrion and Advent options.
