What SumoSprings Are Recommended For A 2013 Toyota Tacoma With 2" Lift?

Question:

Toyota Tacoma 2013 with 2” lift. Both of the helper springs have broken in front of the rear axle. Only load this truck hauls is an aluminum bass boat 18’ half mile to the ramp estimate tongue wt. 400 . Your customer service recommended ss48dr rated for 2700 . 1. Do these just bolt on no drilling? 2. Are these going to make the ride really rough, I live down a 3 mile rough dir road?

Thanks for reaching out, Tim. The # SS48DR SumoSprings for the 2013 Tacoma with the 2" lift will indeed be a no drill install.

SumoSprings have what is called a progressive spring rate. Meaning the spring compresses quite easily at first, then becomes firmer as the load gets heavier. So, you get great load support without making the ride too rough. Also the ride will not be too rough when you are done towing your boat. The progressive spring rate means the springs will be much softer when not under a load.

Hey Tim, how did the ride feel on that rough dirt road after adding the SumoSprings to your Tacoma? It’d be great to hear if the progressive spring rate gave you the smoother ride you were hoping for. Your update could make it easier for others towing small boats to decide.
