Is There A Hub/Drum Assembly For A 3,500lb Axle That Will Fit A 12" Wheel

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/23/2024

Question:

What are the trailer brake options for a 3500k axle and a 12” wheel? I’m looking to put brakes on my trailer but cannot find anything that will fit the 12” wheel and is also compatible with a 3.5k axle.

Hi Adam,

The smallest wheel sizing for a 3,500lb axle hub is 13" so you would have to switch up to a larger wheel and go with a manual-adjust 10" brake assembly # AKEBRK-35 or self-adjust # AKEBRK-35-SA. The correct hub/drum assembly will depend on the bolt pattern of the wheel you switch to.

Hey Adam, did you end up switching to the larger wheel size for your 3,500‑lb axle? Knowing which brake setup worked could help others trying to upgrade their trailers the same way.
