Bearing Buddy And Spindle Grease Seal For The AKIHUB-545-2-1K Idler Hub Assembly

Question:

Looking to purchase Bearing Buddies and seals for a trailer that uses your hub assembly AKIHUB-545-2-1K. Can you please confirm the proper parts are: Bearing Buddy 1980A Spindle grease seal BB60001 Also, I see the stainless steel Bearing Buddies 1980A-SS are slightly less money than the non-stainless. Is there a reason I would NOT use the stainless? This trailer will be solely used on the highway, not a boat trailer. Thank you.

It looks like you did your homework Ron, because the Bearing Buddy # BB1980A and the Spindle Grease Seal Set # BB60001 are indeed the proper parts for the # AKIHUB-545-2-1K idler hub assembly. This hub uses the # L44643 inner bearing, so the bearing buddies and seals you picked are sized perfectly.

I will not pretend to fully understand our pricing algorithms, but if the stainless bearing buddies # BB1980A-SS are currently on sale I would definitely go with those. The chrome has decent rust resistance, but stainless is always preferred and will hold up better over time than chrome. Absolutely no reason not to use stainless in this case.
