Question:
Curt Echo bluetooth brake controller will not turn on when I plug it into my 2005 Chevy 2500 hd. Do you know if this year truck needs the trailer plugged in for the controller to turn on ? I have a 2022 Toyota 4 runner plugged it in and the light came on.

Hello Steve. The green light on the Curt Echo # C51180 should come on if it is plugged in and your 7-way has 12v power. If the controller will not power on, the firs thing to do will be to check your tow package fuses and replace any blown or missing fuses. Also inspect the trailer wiring, specifically the 12v power wire for any frayed or damaged wire that could be causing a short. Also check the 7-way on your truck for any excessive rust or corrosion that may be messing with the connection. Since you have plugged the controller in to another truck, we know it works fine so the issue must lie with your trucks 7-way or wiring.
