Recommended Trailer Hitch For A 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV

Question:

Why wont the DT47GR hitch work on a 2022 Bolt EUV? The photos of the Bolt EV look the same as the EUV.

Hello Will, thanks for reaching out. The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT47GR will not fit the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV. This hitch is made only for the 2022 and 2023 Chevy Bolt EV and it mounts to the frame rails. The hitch for the EUV mounts in a completely different location, behind the bumper beam. The correct hitch for your 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV is the following:

- Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # DT64GR

This hitch does install behind the bumper, so installation is a bit more involved. I have included a link to our installation video for you below.

Hey Will, how did things go with the Draw-Tite hitch for your Bolt EUV? The install behind the bumper can take a little extra work, so I’m curious how the process turned out. Your update could make it easier for others with the same vehicle.

Hi Jesse, Turned out we changed course. Wanted more storage space so traded for a 2024 Equinox EV. I put a Curt hitch on it that did not require removing the bumber, only dropping a plastic panel and cutting a couple of slots in it. Only problem was it needed an extention so our bike rack would clear the bumper. Best, Will

@WillH Hey Will thanks for sharing! Yea an Equinox hitch is much easier to install compared to the Bolt EV hitch. Good call!
