Is There Specific Torque For Putting Bumper Back on 2020 Outback When Installing Curt Hitch
Updated 02/17/2026 | Published 06/12/2024 >
Question:
Hi! When installing this hitch onto a 2020 Subaru Outback, there are two nuts securing the bumper which are removed from the vehicle during installation and reinstalled after the hitch is installed and bumper reattached. However the instructions do not specify a torque for these. Can you share the proper torque spec? Thank you!

Hey Eric,
There isn't a specific torque required for the bumper of your Outback when installing the Curt Hitch # C67JR, so there isn't a number that I can give you. It isn't load/weight bearing so just tighten it down as much as you can and you won't have any issues.

Hey Eric, how did things go tightening the bumper nuts after mounting the Curt hitch on your Outback? It’d be great to hear if everything felt secure once you finished. Your update could make it easier for the next person working on the same setup.
