What is Baseline Number of Washers to Use with Curt MV Weight Distribution System
Updated 02/17/2026 | Published 06/10/2024 >
Question:
I have the Curt C17052 and Im not sure how many washers i can install on the hitch section. My vehicle has a front end rake to it so my backend sits up higher. adding washers would bring the ball backwards and ultimately add tension to the bars. Im trying to figure out the max number of washers i can install on this.

Hey Justin, with the Curt weight distribution system part # C17052 the baseline amount of washers to use in the head of the system is 6 and you'll add or subtract to acquire the desired spring bar tension. As long as this is the properly rated system for the tongue weight of your trailer I wouldn't worry about what the max is as it shouldn't be too many. If it seems like you can't add enough then you would need a higher rated system.

Hey Justin, how did things go after adjusting the washers on your Curt weight distribution system? Did you find the right setup to balance the spring bar tension and your vehicle’s rake? Your update could make it easier for others working with the same system.
