Question:
I have a 1984 F150 4x4 and the bumper is 8 inches with extending frame mount. Which class 5 hitch do I need?

Roger,
I can't quite tell from the picture anything about the frame rails on your 1984 Ford F-150 4x4, but the Curt # C15511 will work just fine with your 8" deep drop bumper and has the class V ratings you're looking for. Keep in mind that you are still limited by the towing capacity of your truck, and ball mount/hitch ball. Installing a new hitch will not increase the towing capacity of your vehicle.
None of the hitches on the market are designed to work with a bumper that uses any of the spots on the frame where the hitch mounts, so if that's where your extended brackets are mounting, then a local fab shop will have to redesign the mount, or custom make you a hitch.

I probably should go with a class IV since a class V is overkill. What class 4 should I use? Thanks
