Heavy loads in the bed or a trailer on the hitch can make the rear end sag and throw off your handling. The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System uses 8,000-lb capacity hollow rubber springs that sit above the rear axle to keep the truck level under load. The system works with your factory suspension to reduce squat, improve steering and braking response, and keep headlights aimed properly when towing or hauling.

These Aeon hollow rubber springs are designed to cushion light loads and stiffen automatically as weight increases. Under light conditions, they maintain about 1" of clearance above the axle so the stock suspension can move freely. As cargo or trailer weight builds, the springs compress along their folds, increasing resistance and keeping your ride steady and controlled. The rubber construction absorbs road shock and helps prevent bottoming out on rough roads for a smoother, more comfortable ride.

Each spring works independently to support its side of the vehicle, cutting down on body roll when swerving or turning corners. This independent action also helps balance off-center loads so the truck stays level even when weight isn’t distributed evenly. Because the vehicle handles better with the springs engaged, less movement transfers to the trailer—making sway settle down faster when crosswinds or passing trucks push against it.

Installation is straightforward thanks to custom-fit brackets that bolt onto each frame rail above the rear axle. The kit replaces the factory bump stops and includes two Aeon hollow rubber springs, brackets, and hardware—no drilling required. There are no air hoses, compressors, or gauges to deal with, so it’s a clean bolt-on job that adds real load support without extra maintenance.

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Timbren rear suspension enhancement system. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1973, up to 1996 Chevrolet and GMC C/K series 2,000, 3,000 and 3,500 model trucks. And on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year model vehicle, and it'll show you if this'll work for your application. Now this kit will improve the suspension and the handling and safety of your vehicle, provides additional support as needed.
So you always have a nice, smooth, comfortable ride. It does allow the leaf spring ample movement while cushioning any light loads, and it does not affect the empty ride of the vehicle. It does become more rigid as more weight is added, which increases stability, provides greater performance while hauling heavy loads and it'll help reduce vehicle sag. These will work independently side to side helps to compensate for any off-center loads, and it does reduce body roll when swerving and turning corners. They will act as shock absorbers, taking the brunt of any bumps and rough roads and extends the life of your vehicle suspension. Now, this does include the two Aeon hollow rubber Springs, the vehicle specific brackets for installation, the hardware for installation and a nice set of instructions on how it installs.
These do install directly onto the frame. There's no drilling required. Capacity on this is 8,000 pounds, but you do want to remember that Timbren springs will not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. So you do want to make sure not to exceed the manufacturer's recommended weight limit. And these are designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order.
But that should do it for the review on the Timbren rear suspension enhancement system..

Still working great! No issues. Other than being dirty, they look and perform like new.

So far they have been fine. They are part of my suspension upgrades, along with stable loads and sway bar. I wasnt worried about harder ride when camper off, I wanted best suspension when camper was on. I would definitely recommend them.

Excellent product. Does exactly what they were designed to do. I removed the sever duty extension. Now the ride is soft when unloaded. But yet smooth when towing or loaded heavy.

After a year of towing some kind of trailer every week, the bump stops are showing some wear from riding on the bump stop pad on the axle. That being said, they are still working as intended and as good as the day I installed them. After a lot of miles, the only draw back is driving around with no trailer. Normal driving the ride isn’t effected but when you hit a bump in the road you really feel it hit the bump stop. You loose a fair amount of rear suspension travel with these but I’m used to it now.

I am not sure when I will be able to have a load on it to confirm, as I do not have a camper just yet. I am currently working on upgrading the suspension in preparation for one. Is there an alternative similar solution, other than airbags - as I dont want those, that can be run? With a similar weight capacity? Kind of interesting Timbren hasnt run into this issue before with the older Ram 3500s. Wonder if this is somehow unique to my truck? All the rear components are original OEM, so it seems kind of strange.

You mentioned that the jounce bumpers were touching up against the lift blocks without a load in the truck and I wondered if you could send a picture of the installation?

I do have additional questions for you. Is the top picture showing how the springs look with a loaded weight? Have you already installed your slide in camper? I wanted to see if the top bracket were touching as well? The manufacturer is trying to determine if a smaller diameter spring would help or not

Both pictures are right after installation with a completely unloaded bed. Since installation, I have not had weight in the bed, so I can not 100 say if the top brackets would touch the U bolts or leaf springs. But from looking at it just now, it appears the top bracket would just barely touch the U bolts with a loaded bed, and would definitely touch if there was side to side movement with a loaded bed like going over a speed bump, pot holes, or uneven terrain.

I did hear back from Timbren. Currently there is not a bracket that would be narrower that they can offer. When loaded if the brackets interfere with the smaller spring, then it may be advisable to return the kit.

Wow, that is exactly what we love to hear about these springs! That is a serious camper. Any plans with it this summer?
