Parts Needed To Convert To Electric-Over-Hydraulic Disc Brakes On A 2024 Brinkley Z3100

Updated 11/04/2025 | Published 12/30/2024

Question:

I have a 2024 Brinkley Z3100. I want to change my breaks on it to disc. I am looking at the DeeMaxx DE68YR set. But I do not know if that is a good set for my camper. I do double tow a small trailer with two Harley Street Glides on it. The small trailer does not have breaks on it at all. Can you please let me know what you think is best and everything I need to swap out my breaks. Thank you, Ray Welker

Hi Ray,

To switch from electric to electric-over-hydraulic disc brakes you'll need to check a few things first. The first thing to check is the axle tube for the ID tag that lists its capacity. Next you'll need to remove a hub and either check the bearings and grease seal for their part numbers or measure the spindle at points B, C, and D with a caliper # PTW80157. We'll also need to know the wheel bolt pattern so that we can make sure everything fits back into place so you aren't buying new wheels too.

Next you can pick out an electric-over-hydraulic actuator and brake line kit. You'll need to determine where you want the actuator to sit and can then measure back to the first axle to get a rough estimate of how long the lines need to be. We offer a few different kits for this so if you can give me an idea of how much line will be needed I can see which would be the most cost-effective.

The actuator will need to tap into your breakaway switch and you'll also need to have a brake controller in your tow vehicle that's compatible with electric-over-hydraulic systems. Is your current brake controller a factory one or aftermarket?

Hey Ray, were you able to check your axle tag and measure the spindle to see if the DeeMaxx disc brake kit will fit your Brinkley Z3100? Once you have those details, I can help narrow down the right actuator and brake line kit. Let me know what you find so we can make sure everything matches up.
