Does the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator DE66AR Require an Adapter for a 2022 Chevy 2500?

Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 01/10/2026

Question:

I have watched several videos about the DeeMaxx brake conversion. They mention changing the settings on the Ram and Super Duty trucks to EOH. I have a Chevy 2500 and it does not have a setting for this. Do I need an additional component for the EOH to work?

Hey Randy, welcome back! The factory brake controller in your 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 is supposed to have a Hydraulic setting. It won't say EOH. That's what you'll need to use with the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator for Tandem Axle Trailers - 13" Hub/Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 - 7K item # DE66AR. The factory brake controller shouldn't need anything else so long is it's been updated. I've attached a picture with the steps you'll need to follow below.

Other systems like Dexter and Hydrastar often need the Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Adapter Module for Ford and Chevy Brake Controllers item # HBA-CAM but those are for truck's made before 2018. We haven't had the compatibility issues with the DeeMaxx actuators like the one included with item # DE66AR.

What kind of trailer do you have? If you could give me that information, I can confirm if the DeeMaxx item # DE66AR is the correct kit.

You can add this information, along with any other questions you have, where it says Reply to Jerred H.

Thanks for the quick response We own a 2025 Grand Design Solitude 310GK. It has two 8K Dexter axles, 17.5" wheels, 8 Lug. Don't know the lug diameter or size

@RandyS You're welcome! I checked Grand Design's replacement parts look up and it didn't tell me your lug size either and they don't show what wheels you have. The DeeMaxx Disc Brakes item # DE93AR will have 5/8" lug studs and item # DE63AR has 9/16" lug studs. You'll need to measure the diameter of one of your studs. These are sold as a pair so you'll need two sets. You'll also need the DeeMaxx Alpha G1600 Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes item # DE47SR and the 25' Long Hydrastar Hydraulic Brake Line Kit item # HS496-252 or the 20' item # 20TA-BLKIT. You've got a pretty long trailer, so you'll want to measure from where you're mounting the actuator to the front axle to see how long of a line you'll need.

@JerredH It looks like those two kits are for the Alco axle while the DE53AR kit is for the dexter axle. What is the difference between these kits?

@RandyS They'll both work with Dexter 8,000 lbs axles, which have require a hub with a inner bearing item # 25580 and outer bearing item # 02475. The DeeMaxx item # DE93AR will have 5/8" lug studs and item # DE63AR has 9/16" lug studs

Installed on my 2021 Sierra Denali HD 3500. Works without extra parts.

Just my two bits. I installed the kit on my older 2005 Montana 3670. I tow with a F350. Install was relatively easy, and so was the decision to upgrade as our group was heading out to WY for a hunting trip. The brakes work great. The only issue I had was I had to cut off the lower end of the shock absorber bolt, so I could get the caliper bolt in. Will bleed them again this spring. Have a great 2026, Patrick
