Hey Claude, the latch mechanism of the etrailer coupler part # CTA-400 is not adjustable but it's not like lighter duty couplers that are going to get loose over time to the point the coupler could let go of the ball.

The etrailer Trailer Coupler #CTA-400 uses the Replacement Mounting Bolt with Nut for Adjustable Channel Couplers #MBT58500-LN58. This is a 5/8" grade 8 bolt. I have attached a diagram below which shows the full dimensions.

I went out to the warehouse to measure the mounting holes on trailer coupler #CTA-400. They measure 0.66 inches in diameter. This coupler does come with the mounting hardware as well. I have included a link to a video review of this coupler for you.
