A good rule to follow is to allow 6 inches or more of clearance between the sides of the bed and the bottom of the gooseneck trailer to allow for dips and bumps in the road.
You will want to check your gooseneck coupler to see if it has an adjustable tube with set screws that will allow you to adjust the height of the coupler for extra clearance when attached to your vehicle. If it does then you can loosen the set screws and adjust the length of the tube to get more clearance.

Yes, it would. The snap pin that comes with the Demco Slide-Lok Trailer Coupler item # DM05557-81 has a 1/4" diameter so the etrailer Adjustable Trailer Coupler Latch Lock item # e98883 would be your best option. view full answer...
Though we do have many coupler locks which can be keyed alike, unfortunately the Master Lock Adjustable Trailer Coupler Lock, # 2847DAT, is not one of them. There is an adjustable coupler lock which offers plenty of convenience in the BOLT Trailer Coupler Lock, # BL7025289. This lock can be coded to the ignition key of your 2004 Toyota Tundra so you do not have to carry any extra keys.
I have added a link to a review of this lock, as well as the link to our page displaying each of our... view full answer...
Some couplers can be adjusted so that the wedge will grab the trailer ball more tightly, but since the coupler you're using has no adjustment available, I'd first confirm that you are using the correct trailer ball size for your coupler. The required ball size for the coupler should be stamped into the metal on the top of the coupler. If you were using a 1-7/8 trailer ball with a coupler designed for a 2 inch ball, it would explain why the ball is loose in the coupler. If this is the case,... view full answer...
Adjustable trailer couplers are not going to mount to your truck; they will attach to the frame of your trailer. Some of the adjustable couplers, such as the Bulldog Cast Head # BDA2563C0317 come with the mounting hardware to weld onto the frame of your trailer. Others, such as the Demco # DM15791-81, come with the channel bracket # DM66134 and mounting hardware # DM6166 separately.
I've added a link to our page with each of our 2-5/16" adjustable trailer couplers for you to take a look at. view full answer...

I have a solution for you, but we don't have a traditional-style coupler that will fit over your 4 inch trailer tongue. The straight tongue trailer couplers we offer fit up to 3 inch trailer tongues.
I recommend using an adjustable channel coupler that will weld to the front of your trailer tongue. For a coupler that fits a 2 inch hitch ball, a great option is the Pro Series Adjustable Channel Coupler with Low Latch # PSA200S0303. This coupler offers an 8,000 pound weight capacity. Actually you would want to go with a Pro Series Gooseneck Coupler # PS0287820300 instead. This is an adjustable gooseneck coupler that will give you 8 inches of adjustability. This coupler has the same diameter tube as what you have. You would just need to have the old one removed and this one welded in it's place. If in the shortest position of this coupler it would still be too tall in the front you could remove a portion off the top of the coupler so that it would be the correct height.... view full answer...
We do carry some replacement parts for couplers, however we do not carry replacement parts that would work for the coupler you have provided pictures of. We do have some options for you to consider.
For an adjustable channel coupler, I recommend the Bulldog Cast Head Coupler, part # BDA256C0317. This coupler has fits a 2-5/16 inch ball. The channel I would recommend for this coupler is the Bulldog 5-Position Adjustable Channel Bracket for Cast Head Couplers, part # BDAC5000300. This channel... view full answer...
I am sorry but the industry standard for channel couplers is 2" spacing (center to center) with 5/8" holes. We do not have any options for a 1-1/2" spacing.
My only solution is to recommend welding on a new channel with standard spacing like the Curt 3-Position Adjustable Channel Bracket item # C48610 which would work with the 2" Pro Series Adjustable-Channel Coupler item # PSA200S0303 or the 2-5/16" Curt Channel-Mount Coupler item # C25328. view full answer...
To adjust the hitch latch on your trailer's coupler, you will want to adjust the nut at the bottom of the latch. This nut will be tightened or loosened depending on what you need for your coupler. I have attached a diagram showing you the location of the nut that you will want to adjust.
The ball needs to be secured in the coupler and unable to simply come off. However, there should be some room for play. The hitch ball needs to be able to move inside the coupler so that nothing binds... view full answer...

The wedge that seats against the hitch ball on the Pro Series Adjustable-Channel Coupler, part # PSA200S0303 is not adjustable.
The latch and wedge are designed to fit a 2-inch trailer hitch ball only. What makes this coupler adjustable is that it can be attached to channel brackets like part # BDAC3000300 or part # BDAC5000300. view full answer...
I was able to find a boat trailer coupler lock that isn't adjustable but it is a bit larger than what you specified. I recommend the etrailer Trailer Coupler Latch Lock Chrome item # e98886. The Demco Trailer Coupler with Adjustable Channel like part # DM6125-81 is only offered in 2-5/16" but I do have a very similar option for 2", the Buyers Products Coupler with Adjustable Channel part # 3370091545. The only real difference between the two is the EZ latch on the Demco. The standard trigger latch on the Buyers still works great though. view full answer...
