Would Dexter 3,500 lb Axle Made in 1999 Use Same Hubs as Current

Question:

Hello, I have a 1999 Coachman Catalina 5th wheel that has dual axles. The rear axle is bent and I am looking at either replacing just the axle and bearings and reusing the old brake components or buying a new axle and brakes together. My fear is that the old brakes won’t fit the new axle. I have measured my current axles and they are: Dexter axle 89” hub face - hub face 74-1/2” spring center - spring center 3,500 lbs max capacity Tag on axle also says: SN 3256115 Any information or suggestions on the route I should take would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Scott, so the braking and hub components of a Dexter 3,500 lb axle made in 1999 would be the same as what's currently used so those components would transfer over. So a bare axle like the part # T3584F-EZ-8974 would work for you but you'd need to double check the spring seat to spring seat dimension you took. If it's really 74-1/2 inch this won't work but if instead it is 74 inches this axle would work.

We don't have a 74-1/2 inch version so if this is what you have you'd need to find a local trailer shop who can order in custom axles and let them get you the correct size.

Is this the same as Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with Standard Spindles - 89" Long - 3,500 lbs Item # T3584F-8974 ?? I don’t think I want the ez lube option.
