Question:
I am looking for solutions to the notorious problems with Ranger Trail trailers and hub problems. I have a 2009 Ranger Trail trailer with disk brakes on both axles. I havent had any issues yet, but I also dont want to have any issues and get stranded on the side of the road. What are my options?

According to my research it looks like the Ranger Trail trailers have a tendency to fail at the oil seal - which means either the seal is bad or the spindle is damaged where the seal rides. If you start to see oil drops under your hubs it definitely means you have an issue and you need to take action.
It looks like Ranger has done a decent job and helping to correct this issue when it comes up, but if you'd like to swap over to a grease setup instead of an oil bath then we have the means to help you do so.
You likely have two 3,500 lb axles so if you clean out the oil completely then you can add some Marine Grease # L74FR and either replace all of the bearings and seals with the Kit # BK2-100 or just replace the seals with the Kit # RG06-050. If you let me know what the bore size is on your hub I can recommend a replacement grease cap for you as well. Also, if you have a different trailer axle weight rating please let me know so I can give you the correct parts.

Thank you for the information. I will check on what you said and get back with you. I hate worrying about my trailer and if the next trip will be the one that strands me. I have always had grease fittings and never had any issues. It will be a great relief to go back to that setup.
