Recommended Hitch And Wiring For A 2020 Ford Transit T250

GM, I have a 2020 transit t-250 and would like to install a trailer hitch with a 7 and 4 way plug. I do already have a curt Bluetooth trailer brake controller. does my van have a factory 4 way plug? can you point me in the right direction for proper electrical wiring kit.

Hi Kurtis,
If you 2020 Ford Transit T250 has a factory 4-pole connector you would see it tucked away around the rear of the vehicle. With you not already having a trailer hitch they likely did not install a trailer connector so you would need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56327. Once installed you can then wire in a 7-way # 37185 to connect your Curt Echo.
The 4-pole connector on the # 37185 will connect to the # C56327 you already installed. The white wire with the ring terminal will need to be mounted to the frame with a self tapping screw for ground and the black wire will need to run to the battery with some 10AWG wire # 10-1-1 with an inline circuit breaker # 9510. The rest of the wires can be capped off with some electrical tape since you won't be using their functions. You might also need a no-drill mounting bracket # 18136 in order to mount the 7-way. This just wraps around the crosstube of the trailer hitch and tightens down.
If you don't already have the hitch picked out then you'll need the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98842. I've attached a short video below where Ryan will walk you through the installation process.
