Question:
Hello. We have a 2021 coachmen freedom express 192rbs travel trailer. One side sags by 1.5 to 2 inches and i have this impression that the factory springs were spec’d to the very bare minimum for the weight of the trailer. I don’t see any visible flattening of the springs, but there must be some on one side for this to happen. I reached out to coachmen and they told me that the Dexter part number for the factory springs is 072-013-00. Being a tandem axle camper, there are four springs. Do you have a comparable size spring that you sell that would be one step up in capacity and might help with the sag and the towing experience? The stock springs have a weight capacity of 1400 pounds, so perhaps something in the 2000 pound range might be a better replacement? The dry weight of this camper is about 4500 pounds, so it seems like the stock springs are barely meeting capacity, especially when the trailer is loaded up. Thank you.

Yeah, I agree if you are sagging on one side you've got a spring issue. We do not have any springs that would be a step up from the Dexter 072-013-00 you currently have installed. That spring is 20-1/2" long and rated for 1,400 lbs per spring. Our closet option is the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles item # e84SR but they are only rated for a 1,000 lbs per spring. That won't help the problem.
To add longer, resulting in higher capacity, leaf springs you would need to change the spring hangers on your camper using the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs item # APT8. Doing this would allow you to install the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 23-1/8" Long item # e59SR.
