Using some grease when installing the Kat's Heaters Custom Fit Engine Block Heater # KH11812 can help prevent corrosion and help to transfer heat, so it's highly recommended but it isn't a requirement. Personally, I recommend using a bit of # 11755 to help keep out moisture that could end up causing corrosion and making removal of the cartridge a nightmare later on.
