Can A Viair Compressor Rated For 150psi Easily Fill Tires Rated For 123psi
Question:
I have a 5th wheel with recommended cold tire inflation of 123psi. I need to know if this compressor will top these off when they are 10-15 pounds low. I realize it is rated to 150psi but Ive had issues with these types of ratings in the past. Thanks in advance.

With the Viair Portable RV Air Compressor Kit # VA39WR being rated for up to 150psi you shouldn't have a problem with getting up to 123psi, but this compressor does have a 33% duty cycle. This means you can run the for about 15 minutes and then it will have to cool down for 30 mins before using it again. If you run the compressor for more than 15 minutes you'll start to have inconsistent pressure and can end up damaging the compressor. The duty cycle for this is only measured up to 100psi so you'd likely have a shorter amount of time to run the compressor between 100psi to your 123psi cold rating.
You'd likely be better off with the Viair Automatic RV Portable Air Compressor # VA59WR, which has a 100% duty cycle and is designed for use on class A RV's. You could run this longer with more consistent pressure to avoid having to wait for the motor in the compressor to cool down. Since it has a higher rating it's a bit more expensive so this option is really only needed if you're consistently airing up your tires and don't want to deal with any hassle.
