Can The SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # SS26MV Be Used On a 2019 Grand Design Solitude?

Question:

Hi. I have a 2019 grand design solitude fifth wheel and the 7k axles. The top of my leaf spring bracket has the W shape and the top of the bracket to the bottom of the frame is barely 5 inches. I have read many of the QandAs on your site and install instructions. I believe the manufacture says minimum frame to leaf spring is 5 5/16 gap. However some of the QandA topics says it will work for rigs that only have 4 inches of gap just will be more preloaded compression. I also read you can cut off some of the spring if needed I assume with a miter saw. So will it work for me with only an5 inch gap ? Also. What is the width of the sumosprings bracket that attaches to the spring plate ? I have the W shape spring bracket and the width between the W humps is 1.5 inches see pics. I was concerned it would not sit on top of the W level Thanks

The brackets on the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # SS26MV are 1-1/2" wide so they will fit evenly across the humps on your spring pads. I do not recommend cutting down the spring and you will be able to use these even with only having 5" of clearance on your 2019 Grand Design Solitude. The heights listed are representative of the heights on a trailer when unloaded. Since your Grand Design is already loaded with all the weight of appliances, furniture and other camping items it will engage sooner to provide a more stable load.
