Can Demco Recon Head Fit Recon Slider for Chevy/GM OEM Puck System

I have the original Recon DM8550045 that fits to the gooseneck ball. Can I take the top part off of it and fit it to this new model for the puck system on my 2024 Sierra 3500 with the short bed?

While the head of the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550045 is the same thing as the head of the Demco Recon 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider Chevy/GMC Prep Package # DM97YV, I only recommend doing that if you'd like to have a replacement head on-hand.
The new hitch isn't pieced out for you to do that so you'd be better off getting a whole new hitch with the slider and then selling off your old unit to help offset the cost.
