Question:
I need to upgrade the leaf springs on our 2021 Jayco Jay Flight 29rks. The current springs have flattened. They are 4 leaf. They have a metal sleeve labeled D72-97. I have read other inquiries that reference Dexter leaf spring 072-097-00. Is this the same spring as my D72-97? The Dexter tandem axles are rated at 5,145lbs/each. The trailers GVWR is 9,500lbs. Which leaf spring will fit and hold a greater arch smile? I want to install Sumo springs. To accommodate the Sumos, I am looking for at least 5.5inch between the top of the leaf spring bolt plate and the bottom of the chassis. Thank You!

I checked with Dexter and I am not finding anything related to the metal sleeve labeled D72-97 you mentioned. The Dexter springs 072-097-00 are a 25-1/4" leaf spring that is rated for 5,200 lbs. Our closest option to that would be the etrailer item # e34SR you were looking at.
The etrailer item # e34SR may work for your Jayco Jay Flight but you'll need to jack one side of your trailer up and take a measurement with the weight off of the suspension. The measurement you are looking for is the distance from the center to center of both eye bolts.
I have linked a diagram below of this spring and the measurement you need to find. The item # e34SR spring will give you a 3" height from the bottom bolt of your spring hanger to the top of the leaf spring.
So long as the bolt hole on your hangers is at least 2-1/2" below your trailer's frame the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs item # SS26MV will work for you if you have an axle that's mounted above your leaf springs or item # TSS-107-40 if your axles are below your leaf springs.
Please feel free to email me directly with any additional questions. If you come up with a different measurement I will be happy to find you a replacement set of springs.
