Youll need to take one quick measurement to determine if the box will allow your rear hatch to open though. Measure from the center of the front crossbar back to the rear hatch seam. If that distance is more than 57 inches this box will allow the hatch to open. If you find a smaller distance we have other options like the SkyBox 16 which requires 52 inches or the Thule Force XT # TH6358B which requires 51-1/8 inches this is 18 cubic feet storage.

Yes, the Yakima SkyBox 18 Rooftop Cargo Box # Y07336 will fit the crossbars on your 2023 Subaru Outback Wagon just fine and you just need to measure for the 57" clearance (see diagram) to ensure the rear hatch can open. If you have less than 57" then you'll want to go with a different box like the Yakima SkyBox NX 18 # Y45AV which has the same amount of cargo space but only needs 50" for that clearance measurement.
