This hitch gives your vehicle the ability to haul a small trailer, carry bikes, or attach a cargo carrier. With a 3,500 lbs maximum gross trailer weight (GTW) and a 350 lbs maximum tongue weight (TW), it’s built for light to moderate towing and everyday utility. The 2" x 2" receiver opening works with the most common accessories like ball mounts, bike racks, and cargo trays, so you’ll have plenty of options for how to use it.
You don’t need to weld or modify anything to get this hitch on your vehicle. The fully welded design bolts directly to the frame using the included hardware kit. The mounting points are made for precision alignment so the bolt holes line up and the install goes smoothly. Everything needed for installation comes in the box, along with clear instructions to help guide you through the process.
The steel construction is protected by a matte black powder coat finish that adds durability and corrosion resistance. This rugged finish hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than glossy coatings while giving a clean, understated look under the bumper. The round-tube design adds strength without looking bulky, so it performs well while keeping a tidy appearance.

This custom-fit hitch is rated as a Class III receiver and holds up through regular towing or gear hauling. It comes with lifetime technical support from hitch installation experts who know the product inside and out. Whether you’re setting it up for towing or adding accessories later on, you can count on solid build quality that’s made to handle real use over time.

Absolutely NOT a 40 minute job. Closer to 2 hours. If you are putting this on a CRV that's parked outside, rustbelt, or more than about 5 years old, you will encounter SUUUPER rusty bolt holes. You will need a tap, oil, and patience. It's very tedious work.
This will take you an eternity of fighting with a tap to clean out. This took at least an hour to clean the 4 bolt holes alone. You don't have great access to the holes, and if you don't have a tap and die set, it won't be easy to clean. These frame mount holes are rust pockets.
Second, the tow rating on this vehicle is 1500 lbs. There's precious little point in having a class 3 hitch when you'd be a fool to tow that much with this.
Far better option, despite having to enlarge the body mount holes, is the class 1 hitch part number C11555. That doesn't use these rusty frame mount holes. Not only is the C11555 hitch cheaper, it will be far easier to install on an older CRV that's been exposed to salt or water.
Hindsight being what it is, I immediately regretted purchasing this class III hitch after seeing how much work it would be to clean those threads out. I even looked prior to purchase and was deceived at how much rust was on the threads. It doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence in towing knowing this is bolted to an old frame like on my 2011.
You will need 2 people to easily install this, and it was nigh impossible to properly torque 1 of the four holes without fully removing the exhaust.
I undid three of the exhaust hangers, but on the AWD version of the CRV, there is a sway bar in the back that limits how far the exhaust can fall. None of the videos show an AWD version with the sway bar.
So I nipped up the bolts as best I could, but 1 of the 4 was nowhere near the 49 ft lbs needed, and there's nothing I can do about that. I was able to get maybe 30 ftlb on it, but I locktited the frame bolts.
Strongly consider getting C11555 hitch, which will be lighter, easier to install despite having to enlarge the hole slightly, and likely to work just as well.
It got here when expected, but the box was broken and parts of the trailer hitch are outside the box. I hope the small pieces are not missing. We won't know until my husband opens it (it's his b'day present). I am also hoping that the the parts that came out of the box are not scratched or damaged.
Installing the trailer was very easy using the video provided by etrailer.com. The video saved me time and effort since my 2010 CRV required the holes be tapped prior to installation. This warning was provided in the installation video. The product exceeds our expectation. We use it to pull a kayak trailer.
Well built. Nothing to the install.
Installs just like a factory one.
Easy to install (with a second set of hands), fits flush and looks clean. Took a few bikes out with a new hitch rack on day 1, very happy with it so far.
The first hitch I ever put on but with your video you couldn't mess up
Overall good experience with etrailer.com and with the install of this hitch. First the not-so good. Hitch arrived w/o mounting hardware and instructions. There was a tear in the box so its possible it fell out. etrailer responded the same day and sent out the hardware. The hitch itself did have some scratches on it, some down to the metal. I've done a few of these inexpensive hitches in the past and have found the powder coating doesn't hold up well if you live in the rust belt (New England) so prepare to wire brush it and coat it with Rustoleum once a season.
Now the good. Installation instructions were simple and easy to follow. All the holes lined up and the hardware was the proper size. The hitch is sturdy and is a perfect fit for my 2011 CRV.
I do have a couple of install tips. If you're not familiar with dropping the muffler it can be tricky. I had to look it up. Basically spray some soapy water on the mounts and work them off with your hands and a screwdriver. I was able to rest the muffler w/o having to support it. The nut threads on my car were rusted and I could not thread the bolts in. I picked up a tap on [online vendor] for $[XX] and tapped the threads on all 4 bolts to fix that problem.
The bolts were the wrong size so I had to find the correct ones
Easy install. Durable, well constructed, been using it for a year now on my crv and no complaints or issues.
The install is closer to 90 minutes and you will need a second person to hold it up while putting the screws in. I am eating it 3 stars because for some reason the tolerance between the muffler and the hitch is very tight and the muffler will occasionally rattle against the hitch and produce an audible and annoying rattling sound.
Perfect welds, fit and finish. They aren’t kidding when they say there might be some rust in the weld nuts. Took a bit to clean those out, but once that was done install was a snap. I use a short piece of 2” square tube attached to the floor jack and use that to hold the hitch up, making it an easy one person job. Couldn’t talk my wife or my cat into helping out.

Install looks great Eric! I am very sorry to hear that both your wife and cat denied helping you..... it is more rewarding to do it on your own anyway =) What do you mainly plan on using the hitch for?

Great product great price great service EZ install and wiring too ! Thanks again.
It is great! It fit perfectly. My only problem was chasing out the existing threaded holes for the M10 x 1.25 bolts. There were crusty and hard to access. But other than that it was an easy install,
Pretty hard to install mostly cause the car is old and dirty. But the U bolt was too narrow for the trailer hook....

It's always important to make sure to install how the manufacturer designed just for warranty and safety reasons. Just wanted to confirm that you weren't able to use the U-bolt?
Well made and fit perfectly. Video showing how to make your own tap was very helpful. Cleaning threads in weld nuts is by far the most time consuming part of the install. Make sure you are cleaning the correct weld nuts required for attachment! I cleaned 2 that were not needed. 2011 Honda C-RV
Perfect fit bolted right in!
Arrived promptly, no missing parts, no damage. Watched etrailer's installation videos and was confident I could do the job. Turned out to be very straightforward and easy, just take your time and check your work. Holds my Kuat rack without issue.
Perfect fit for the Honda CRV. Easy instructions. Everything went as planned. Hitch has performed flawlessly for the past year. This is my second vehicle installation with an etrailer.com assembly.
Easy to install. Packaging needs improving. Box had several holes when it arrived causing a few scuff marks.
It was a easy install , just had to run the bolts in and out of the bolt holes to clear the little bit of dirt and rust
Extremely easy to install. I had to re-tap my mounting holes on my vehicle due to rust from Iowa winters. This was the hardest part of the installation but was still pretty easy. It was a walk in the park other than that.
There were a few minor scratches from shipping, but it's a trailer hitch and will be dinged up during use anyway. The build seems very solid. They design fit the factory mounting points exactly. Its a 2 person job to get 1 bolt in on each side, then 1 person can finish the rest. The shipping was fast to Phoenix,AZ.
This is the right hitch for my 2008 Honda CR-V but the left side bracket is slightly bent either from manufacturing or shipping (that side bracket had torn through box). You can see the passenger side bracket is straight but the driver side one is not in these photos. I couldn't line up the holes no matter what I did so I will have to return this one for another one that is straight.

A week ago etrailer told me how to fix the bent arm. The side arms are softer than they look. Once I did that it went on easily. Good hitch but poor packaging = 4 stars.
I just installed this bracket on my 2009 Honda CRV by myself in less than 30mins.

Heck yeah you did Ron and it looks wonderful! Great job. Now what are you using it for?

Well made product that’s available from etrailer. I’m very impressed with the customer service, website, and the follow-up email in the product. Next on the list is a hitch bike rack.
