Do I Need To Remove Trailer Leaf Spring Before Measuring For Replacement?
Updated 07/05/2023 | Published 07/02/2023 >
Question:
When measuring my old leaf springs for replacement, do I measure when the spring is removed or can I measure with the spring still on the trailer?

You can measure your leaf spring (eye to eye) while it is still installed on the trailer, but first you'll want to jack up the trailer so that the leaf spring is completely unloaded. Also, it is possible that your springs are worn and stretched ever so slightly, so keep that in mind while looking for replacement springs since you may find some springs a tiny bit shorter than your current worn out springs.
the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles # e94SR you were looking at measures 26" eye to eye and is used on 6,000 lb axles.
