Do I Need to Install a Jumper Wire On the H4 Connector When Switching From Lead to AGM Batteries?
Updated 12/30/2024 | Published 06/28/2023 >
Question:
I have a PD 4060CSV converter charging section. Im upgrading to AGM batteries from lead acid. Do I need to do something with the H4 pin connection? it says off=lead, on=gel ?? Or do I just install the AGM batteries and Im good to go? Thanks!

When you install your AGM batteries you won't need to flip that switch on the Replacement Converter Section for Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power 4000 Series 60 Amp Power Center # PD4060CSV.
You'd only need to flip it if you were using Lithium Ion batteries. However for that H4 connector you are going to want to leave it off for lead.
The instructions only recommend installing that jumper if you're using gel batteries, and while AGM batteries do have some gel in them they are not quite the same and have different charging patterns.

I don’t believe he’s talking about the lithium ion switch. If you look right next to the switch, there is a two pin jumper that shows off for lead and on for gel. He asked the same question I need to know. If I’m running AGM batteries (which I am), do I need to put a jumper in this location? Thanks.
