Question:

I am looking for a hitch for a 2021 Mazda CX-5. It will be primarily used for a cargo carrier I have from a previous vehicle but I would like the ability to tow a small uhaul trailer too.

To add a hitch to your 2021 Mazda CX-5, I recommend the etrailer Hitch item # e98902. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Mazda with included hardware. It is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver so it will be great for accessories like your cargo carrier and have plenty of capacity for pulling a uhaul trailer.

I really like this hitch because the crosstube mounts behind the rear bumper cover completely concealing it. This leaves only the 2" receiver visible which not only helps with ground clearance but it looks better. I have attached a couple of pictures below along with an installation video so you can see what it looks like once installed.

To tow a trailer you will also need a wiring harness item # C56377 and a ball mount kit item # C45534.

I also recommend using the No-Drill Mount Bracket item # 18136 and the item # C42CR to secure the 4-way connector to your hitch. This will put it in an easy to reach spot and prevent the risk of it falling onto the road.
