Question:
I have a customer with a 2012 Chevy 3500 with a 10foot flatbed. Sounds like the wiring in the truck is causing him some problems, so he wants us to install a new Brake Controller we use Tekonsha 90160 typically, but he wants us to run all new wiring to install it. What else will I need other than the Brake Controller itself to get this job done?

If the issue is with the wire running to the 7-way you will only need 10 gauge Wire # 10-1-1 to run from the brake controller to the 7-way. You will just cut out the factory connection and install this wire using 2 of the Butt Connectors # DW05745-5. If they are concerned about the power and ground wires you will simply need to run new wire with a Circuit Breaker # 9510 to the battery for power. If they do not want power always on for the brake controller you will also need to wire in a Relay # BDW42035 to an ignition source so it only has power with the key on.
If they are having other issues with the 7-way as well you can use the Universal Wiring Harness # 22551 to bypass all the factory wiring. This kit includes a connector which allows you to connect directly to the Tekonsha Primus # TK90160.
