Question:

I have two 55lb. ebikes with 4inch tires. I am considering how I can hook up a bike rack and flat tow a toadinch Chevy Trailblazer. I would think I could get a double 2inch receiver for my Dutch Star Max Tongue WT. 1500lb and a 24inch Receiver Extension for the toads receiver. Then hook up a bike rake on the upper receiver. That would still give me plenty of maneuvering room for the toad without risking hitting the bikes on a turn. Still well under the Tongue weight. Thoughts on the idea and a bike rack that would work?

I have a better solution for you. You can't use an extension like that on a flat towing setup. To tow a trailer and haul a bike rack off of your motorhome's hitch, I recommend the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers item # 325-GH-514. This adjustable ball mount has four 2" receiver openings that will allow you to use both a hitch mounted bike rack and flat-tow your Trailblazer.

This ball mount has a 12,000 lbs towing capacity and a 1,500 lbs maximum tongue weight. This will not reduce your motorhome's current capacity. This ball mount includes a double ball that has both a 2" and 2-5/16" hitch ball that you can also use for towing a trailer.

If you have a 2-1/2" receiver you will want the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers item # 325-GH-1624. It's the same set up but has a much higher capacity. It will still work with your bike rack and trailer.

For a compatible bike rack, I recommend the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes item # HLY64FR. This bike rack has a 80 lbs per bike capacity and accommodates tires up to 5" wide.

A big advantage of this bike rack is that it can be used behind any vehicle, motorhome, and flat towed vehicle. This means you could attach it to a hitch on your Trailblazer and not have to worry about a double ball mount.
