How To Reverse Airflow Direction With A MaxxAir MAxxFan Plus RV Roof Vent

Updated 06/12/2023 | Published 06/11/2023

Question:

You have an article on reversing the motor wires to make a max air fan into an intake fan. Does that also hold true for the max air dome fan? My thought is to have one on exhaust and one on intake in a mini van camper

On older models of RV roof vents you used to be able to just reverse the wiring to have the motor run in the reverse direction. With the current models of the MaxxAir MaxxFan, including the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # MA00-04000K this feature is already programmed into the controller so that you don't have to change the wiring. Simply press the button (pictured below) to switch between pulling air in or out of the trailer.

These vents will come with mounting screws but do not include butyl tape # AL28FJ and self-leveling sealant # 34427034145-1 to form a waterproof seal between the vent's mounting flange and roof of the RV so you'll want to pick them up as well. One roll of butyl tape would be enough for both vents but I usually use 1-1/2 to 2 tubes of sealant for every vent.
