Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxFan Plus Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.

To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on either the remote control or keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on either the remote or keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.

This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Flush-Mounted Keypad

Keypad for MaxxFan Plus

The flush-mounted keypad on the vent enables you to operate the vent and fan, including opening or closing the dome and turning the fan on or off. You can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

Manual-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxFan Plus Dual Arms - Manual

The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.

Unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this manual-lift dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.

MaxxFan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome. Pull the knob outward, turn it to where you want it, and push it in to lock the dome into place.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxFan Plus Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

Installation

The MaxxFan Plus vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The vent also has a molded-in mounting flange that is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Then insert the MaxxFan Plus into the opening in the roof and mount the flange to the roof. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

MaxxFan Plus With FanMate Cover

For extra rain protection, install a MaxxAir FanMate vent cover (sold separately) using the molded mounting tabs located on the flange. The tabs are designed to align with the integrated brackets on the FanMate, allowing for a no-drill, tool-free installation. These tabs also have rubber inserts that prevent water from seeping in under the flange.

  • Troubleshooting MaxxAir Vent Powered Lid that Won't Open
I've attached the owners manual for your 4900K model which is similar to the # MA00-04500K model. It sounds like your operator mechanism is bad according to my tech contact at MaxxAir. For your 4900K model you will want the Replacement Operator Mechanism for MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus or MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vents # MA10-20281K-1AF. If you can't even manually lift the lid, this mechanism is definitely the issue.

  • Troubleshooting MaxxAir MaxxFan 12V Fan-Powered Trailer Roof Vent That Beeps
My contact at MaxxAir advised that there are three potential causes for the beep and no fan motion you're experiencing with your MaxxFan Trailer Roof Vent # MA00-04000K. One potential cause is that the unit was wired with incorrect polarity. Make sure the white wire is grounded and the black wire is connected to your 12V power source (of at least 5-amps). Another possible reason for the malfunction is low incoming voltage. Use a voltmeter like # PT89ZR to make sure your battery is delivering...

  • Troubleshooting a MaxxFan Roof Vent Fan That Has Stopped Working
Roof vents with fans like the MaxxFan Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # MA00-04000K do not have a fuse anywhere in the fan itself. You will want to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to see if there is power getting to the fan. If it was installed by the manufacturer, there may be a circuit breaker that it is attached to, but most of the time they are directly wired to the 12V power. If there is power going to the switch, you may simply need to replace the switch and not the entire assembly....

  • Solution for MaxxFan Roof Lid that Stopped Opening with Switch
Sounds like the lift motor needs to be replaced as it's no longer able to raise the vent lid. For that you'd want the part # MA10-20270. Since you are able to lift the lid manually it wouldn't be the operator. If this were the problem it would either make noise like you mentioned or wouldn't allow you to manually lift it.

  • Troubleshooting A MaxxAir MaxxFan That Keeps Turning Off
Your MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat - Manual Lift - 10 Speed - White # MA00-04000K could be cutting off after 10 seconds for the following reasons: 1. Insufficient or fluctuating power. Your fan could be receiving less than 12v of power. Check the power wire at the unit using a multimeter like # PT89ZR. If you aren't receiving 12v then you could have a voltage drop off due to the length of the wire running from the battery to the fan and would just need to increase the...

I recommend first checking the power coming to your MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat - Manual Lift - 10 Speed - White # MA00-04000K, it will need to be 12v. If it's not receiving 12v then you could need to increase the wire gauge running to it to negate any potential voltage drop off. If it's receiving the correct amount of power then I would disconnect the power and remove the circuit board for a few minutes for it to reset and then reinstall the board and power. If it...

  • Troubleshooting MaxxFan That Beeps and Has Flashing Green Light
I'll start off by saying that typically the flashing green lights on your MaxxFan # MA00-04000K means that there is some sort of voltage issue and even though when you tested you're getting what seems to be proper voltage, I would guess there is a short on the circuit that is causing the problem. I would recommend checking to make sure that the ground is properly attached to an area of the coach that is free from dirt, debris and corrosion. This would also be a good time to make sure that...

  • Determining if Lift Motor or Circuit Board is Problem for MaxxFan RV Roof Vent
In order to test the motor on a MaxxAir MaxxFan # MA00-04000K you'll need to supply power directly to the motor itself; if the motor works when it receives power directly from the battery then the issue would be circuit board. The circuit board would be part # MA10A21276K and the lift motor would be the part # MA10-20270.

Is there a clicking noise when the "close" button on the remote is pressed? Does the fan stop moving when the "close" button on the remote is pressed? If you hear a clicking noise then the motor is likely faulty but if the fan doesn't stop moving then the issue is likely a fault in the circuit board.
