Features to know about

Stops Rust Before It Starts: Dacromet-Coated Steel Fights Corrosion

Saltwater and road grime can ruin a suspension fast. This 4-leaf double-eye spring has a tough Dacromet coating that’s been salt-spray tested to 700 hours, so it holds up against corrosion long after paint or zinc coatings start to fail. It’s a solid fix for trailers that see boat ramps or salted highways, keeping the metal from flaking and saving you from constant repainting or replacement.

Smooth, Steady Ride Under Load: 2,500-lb Spring Capacity Handles the Work

Each spring is rated at 2,500 lbs, giving a total 5,000-lb axle capacity. Built from sturdy steel and 1-3/4" wide, it flexes just enough to absorb shock without sagging. With four leaves stacked at 3/8" thick each, it keeps your trailer level and riding steady mile after mile.

Fits Right the First Time: 25-1/4" Eye-to-Eye for Standard Hanger Spacing

No guesswork on fitment—this spring measures 25-1/4" from eye to eye, a common size for many 5K setups. It mounts to existing hangers using standard suspension hardware (sold separately), so you can swap it in without modifying your frame. The 9/16" eye diameter with included nylon bushings keeps everything aligned and moving smoothly.

Built for Long Hauls and Hard Use: Durable Construction That Lasts

A rust-resistant finish and solid steel build mean you spend less time under the trailer and more time towing. Whether you’re refreshing worn-out factory springs or upgrading for heavier work, this spring gives your suspension the strength, corrosion resistance, and reliability to go the distance.

I’m happy to say the spare set of leaf springs are safely stored in event of a failure on the road. The original set survived a 3-month trip to Fairbanks after I installed a set of Sumo Springs to help dampen the Alcan, frost heave shock load.

@Dennis Great to hear. Thank you for the update.

by:

It worked great for my trailer.

by:

Looks great. Fast delivery.

by:

The leaf springs fit perfectly and has worked great

by:

Make sure you have the correct size the 26 or 25 inch and a quarter doesn’t have much meaning unless you have a load on it otherwise the springs are pretty

by:

Fit perfect on my 2020 Grande design 26 5BH.

by:

Seems good

by:

The springs were exactly as described on their website. The Dacromat coating appears to be substantial and hopefully long lasting. The measurement guidelines and info given on their website was accurate for my installation. I bought these springs for an aluminum boat trailer that is used frequently in salt water. I cannot attest to the durability of the coating at this time as They have only been just been installed and subjected to use in salt water only one time.

Good finish hope they last on my saltwater trailer

by:

Corrosion resistant will still corrode after only one year after exposure to salt water. And this is with freshwater wash down after each boat launch. But still holding up better than plain steel. I hope to get 3 to four years use before replacing.

by:

So far, so good. These leaf springs are for a 3,500lb, single-axle camper rated at 4,000lbs (Wolf Pup 16FQ). I like the Dacromet coating and I hope that it will provide years of corrosion-free operation. The springs were packaged well, the brass bushings pushed in easily enough with a bigass C-clamp, and the installs on both sides went exactly as planned, no surprises.

I also got the Dexter upgraded shackle and wet-bolt kit; those shackles are massive at a full 1/2" thickness. And, of course, the bolts were sized for the fatter width. JUST REMEMBER, do not grease the top wet bolt on the back hanger because it's open to the air; there's no bushing there.

I have NOT driven the camper on any trip yet, and I cringe as I see my unit about 4" higher than it was. I had one broken spring on the passenger side and the driver side was nearly flat. I upgraded my springs from 1,750lbs to 2,500lbs with this purchase, and the camper seems to sit very well now, albeit higher.

All-in-all, I am pleased with this purchase, and I am pleased with the observable quality of these springs.

by:

The springs arrived quickly and were well packed (each one wrapped in several layers of tissue paper, and individually boxed). The size was a very good match to the springs I needed to replace, and came with nylon bushings pre-installed. The finish looks good, but only time will tell if they resist rust as hoped.
After pulling out the first old spring, I decided to install new heavy duty shackles, bronze bushings, and wet bolts (rather than just getting new nuts for the existing set). The Dexter tandem axle kit was also quickly delivered.

by:

etrailer really came thru for me,originally the wrong springs were ordered.but etrailer was really quick at getting everything squared away. Gabby was great at getting the correct springs to me and even quicker than expected. These dacromet springs look great and come in a double box wrapped in paper to keep them nice.I really like that.Overall very happy

  • Can the Leaf Springs Be Upgraded On a Lippert 3,500 Lb Axle
It is possible to upgrade the leaf springs on a trailer to a higher rated set but I do not recommend this as it can create a rough ride. The better option would be to install the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs part # TSS-107-40 for overslung or part # TSS-106-40 for underslung axles. These will offer both additional support without decreasing the ride quality. If you would still like for me to recommend a set of upgraded leaf springs, I'd need to know the unloaded length from eye to eye.

  • Are Galvanized Leaf Springs Available for a Boat Trailer
Thanks for reaching out, Terry! There are some galvanized leaf springs on the market, but we've found that the Dacromet finish on our leaf springs, like the 25-1/4" Long # e28SR you were looking at, is better because it doesn't flake like galvanized springs do, and the Dacromet finish has a salt spray rating of 700 hours. I recommend Dacromet springs over galvanized springs, but if you're set on wanting galvanized springs I recommend checking with a local trailer shop or RV dealer about...

  • Trailer Suspension Parts Needed to Increase Trailer Capacity from 7000 to 10000 lbs Gross Weight
Your best bet for upgrading the suspension on your trailer with 5,000 lb axles is to change out the springs from 1,750 lb capacity each to at least 2500 lb capacity each. Helper springs would not increase the capacity of your original suspension, they are designed to help your suspension handle loads up to the rated capacity of the suspension. If your trailer suspension is built with double eye springs you will need to measure the springs with no load on them from the spring eye center...

Hey Steven! The etrailer Rust-Resistant 3-Leaf Double Eye Spring for 4K Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long - Dacromet # e93SR will be adequate for your 2020 Gulf Stream Vista Cruiser since the Dexter D40 number correlates to a 4,000 lbs hub and drum kit like Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 4,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 # K08-426-91. • Replacement Leaf Springs for a 2018 Jayco Eagle HT 28.5RSTS
Hey Ken! I would be happy to help you but I need some more information. There's no database that will tell me what size or capacity spring you have on your 2018 Jayco Eagle HT 28.5RSTS so what you're going to have to do is jack up one side of the trailer and measure one of the springs you want replaced from one eye to the other. The springs will flatten out over years of use and this is the only accurate way to determine the replacement. Additionally, if you could take a look at one of...

  • Choosing the Correct Replacement Leaf Springs for a Weekend Warrior Toy Hauler
In order to choose the correct replacement leaf springs for a trailer you'll need to know both the unloaded length and axle capacity. The number of springs is not relevant so long as you choose a set that matches the axle capacity as springs can have different thicknesses therefore different weight capacities not necessarily dependent on the number of leaves. A few other things to keep in mind is that leaf springs can lengthen over time and you need to replace them in pairs. I have attached...

The typical springs for the AL-KO 4,400 axles are one of two lengths. • Locating Replacement Leaf Springs for Dexter D44 Tandem Axles and Recommended Upgrades
In order to find the right replacement leaf springs, you will need to raise the trailer up and take some measurements on one of the existing springs. This type of information isn't typically provided by trailer manufacturers and it's not something that can be determined by the axle capacity (many different leaf spring lengths could be used with 4,400 pound tandem axles). With all the weight lifted off the leaf springs, you will just need to measure their length (from the center of one...

  • Replacement 26 Inch Long Double Eye Leaf Spring for Travel Trailer
The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,000-lb Trailer Axles # e22YR looks to be exactly what you need. This measures 26" from center eye to center eye and is 1-3/4" wide. This is rated for 2,000 lbs so when you replace both springs together they are rated for 4,000 lbs (check to make sure this is rated high enough for your axle specs). Be sure to replace the leaf spring on both sides of the same axle to ensure that you have a consistent ride quality.

  • Solution for Needing Replacement Leaf Spring for Pontoon Boat Trailer
Hey Brad, the capacity of leaf spring we offer that best matches what you need would be the 4,000 lb axle springs like the galvanized part # e48SR. Yes, you can Brian. You won't need to move your spring hangers to upgrade your axles. If you could tell me what the hub to hub distance is and what the spring seat measurements are on your current axle I can recommend a replacement. I'll also need to know what lug pattern your wheels are and what kind of brakes you have. If you could give me the dimensions of your leaf springs I can recommend replacements for those as well. • Replacement Leaf Spring for Trailer with Dexter 4,400 lb Axle
I checked your order notes and the leaf springs you bought last year were the part # e28SR which are for 5k axles. Since this is over the capacity of your axle failure would not have been caused by over loading the trailer assuming you stayed under that figure. Were you on off-road terrain? It's also possible the failure was a fluke or you are overloading the capacity of your trailer.

The Dexter 072-078-00 is a 2,200 lb capacity leaf spring. You can use a higher capacity leaf spring, however it won't increase the capacity of your trailer as the axle is still rated for that max capacity of 4,400 lbs. My recommendation for a replacement is the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,000-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # e28SR which is rated for 2,500 lbs but is the same length. • Is it Ok to Replace Factory Leaf Springs With a Higher Capacity Option?
Though I do tend to warn people about the ride getting stiffer when upping the capacity of their leaf springs, you are correct in that you will technically never be fully "unloaded". I do have to mention that this could still happen, but very minimally. With that being said, this is something that is done pretty often. Whether this is due to the factory springs not handling the weight very well, or wearing out over time, upgrading to a slightly heavier capacity is perfectly fine. The 6-Leaf...

Since you have a 5,200 lb axle the next higher rated spring would be the part # e78SR which is a 6k axle rated leaf spring that is also 25-1/4 inches long and Dacromet coated.
