Solution for Manually Locking Out Brakes on Actuator With Electric Lockout

Question:

Is there any way to manually lockout these brakes? My trailer is moved around the boat yard regularly by the staff using a tractor or Kubota with no electrical connection.

If you have an actuator like the Dexter # T4750620 you looked at, the only way to lockout the brakes is with the electric lockout. If you have a different model it is possible it has a spot for a key on the side like the # DX94FR which would work with an actuator like the # DX56FR.

If you do not have this, there is still a solution for your problem. Although you can't manually lockout the actuator, you could add free-backing brakes to your trailer. These eliminate the need for the lockout altogether. You can choose from the following:

-Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - 10" - Left/Right Hand - 3,500 lbs # AKFBBRK-35

-Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - Dacromet - 10" - Left/Right Hand - 3,500 lbs # AKFBBRK-35-D

-Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - 12" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 5.5K to 7K # AKFBBRK-7

-Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - Dacromet - 12" - Left/Right Hand - 5.2K to 7K # AKFBBRK-7-D

If you currently have disc brakes, you can either switch to drum brakes like these or swap out the actuator for one that will allow manual lockout.
