Replacement Surge Brake Parts for 2004 5 Starr Boat Trailer

Question:

Hello, I own a 2004 5 Starr Boat Trailer. The existing actuator, I believe is an Atwood? its hard to read. Model DA-10 Hydraulic Brake Actuator rated at 12,500 lbs. with the reverse lock out. I believe this is the actuator I need, please let me know if it is. Also I will need new Rotors, 12? and complete Calipers and Pads. The Salt water is brutal on this stuff even thou I wash the heck out of it upon every return home. Do you sell a complete package with all the above parts plus the brake lines too. Please advise on what I need to order to put brakes under my boat again. Thank you and have a Happy Holiday,

It sounds like you have a Demco Actuator to me like # DM8104002. We also have one with a 4 inch drop # DM8104311. Both are Hydraulic Brake Actuators that are rated at 12,500lbs.,has a 2-5/16 inch ball, and bear the DA10 model number.

I was able to look up your boat trailer and the parts used between packages varied. I can help you pick out Rotors, Lines, Calipers, and Pads if you can provide me with more information about the current items on the trailer. I will need the number of axles with brakes, axle capacity, trailer length, wheel bolt pattern, style of discs you have (slip on rotors or hub and rotor assemblies).

I have attached a Help Article of how to determine what your wheel bolt pattern is for your convenience.

Question:

1) number of axels with brakes. 2 2) the axel capacity, 4,013 lbs. 3) trailer length from the tail lights to the tongue 24'. 4) Wheel bolt pattern, 6 lugs. 5) type of disc. hub and rotor assembly. not sure if they are 10" that’s what they look like to me. 6) I also need the non brake hubs for the rear axel. 7) all new lines. The bearings on these axles are 1.25" x 1.75" making the numbers inner 25580 and outer 15123.

Great news since we have all this information we can get you a new setup for your boat trailer.

Let's start with the Disc Brake Kit, I recommend the Kodiak # K2HR526DS. This kit will include 2 dacromet hub and rotor assemblies as well as stainless steel calipers and mounting brackets. This 12 inch assembly has a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern that will be compatible with your current setup.

Since you only have one axle with brakes, the brake line assembly that I recommend for you is the 19 foot Titan Hydraulic Kit # T4829900. This kit will include all the parts to get your new disc brakes up and running. If you intend to run brake lines along the axle of your trailer to install disc brakes - as is often done for boat trailers - you will need 1 additional hose # T0776500 and 1 extra hose clip # T0776400 with bracket # T0776300 to complete the installation because you will want a flex line to go in between the frame and the axle.

The non brake hubs I recommend for your boat trailer will be the # 8-213-51UC1-EZ. These galvanized idler hubs include an E-Z lube cap for quick and easy maintenance.

I've included links to the pages specific to your trailer just in case you'd like to get a different coating on any of the components listed above.
