Recommended Roof Vent that Can Be Installed Above a Shower

Question:

Im looking for a MaxxFan by MaxxAir that I can install above a shower. The three MaxxFan products all contain the disclaimer Note: Not for use directly above tubs, showers, or range cooking surfaces. Is there something that can be done to accommodate an above-the-shower installation? Or, failing that, is there a MaxxAir product you carry that will work in that situation?

You technically can use a powered roof vent like the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-06401K however it is not recommended because the moisture can ruin the electronics.

So for above your shower, I recommend going with a manual roof vent like the Ventline Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent # V2092SP-28.

This will do the same thing as the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof vent but is manually operated instead of powered.

The problem with that solution is that shorter folks can't reach the knob to open the vent.

@Chris Yeah I can see that being an issue. You could also use the Ultra-Fab Solar-Powered Plumbing Vent for Motor Homes # UF53-945001 which is solar powered so it doesn't actually get wired in, and will function the same as any other powered roof vent.

@BryceD I have power at the bathroom vent that I want to replace. Maxxair has one withe a hardwired remote, but they don't sell it as an aftermarket item I would fish the control wire in the wall and ceiling, rather than have a wireless remote that gets lost. I live on the Oregon/Washington border, so the integrated cover is a must. Had one that had the rain sensor, could not keep it open here in the winter.

@Chris Chris, unfortunately there aren't any roof vents that have an option to add a wall switch. They either have the controls on the fan which wouldn't work because of how high you'd need to reach, or they have them with the small wireless remotes.
