Availability Of Replacement Brake Shoes For 3,500lb Dexter Brake Assemblies

Question:

I am looking 3500lb dexter axle RV travel trailer brake shoes. All this website has is for 7000# axle brakes. Replacement Shoe Kit for Dexter 12 x 2 Manual Adjust Electric Brake Assembly - 7K Item # DX28FR Will these fit? Thanks, Craig

We do have brake shoes for a 3,500lb Dexter brake assembly, but the 12" x 2" is not going to work as you have 10" brakes.

Instead you'll need the Dexter # K71-681 for the left side and # K71-682 for the right side if you have the self adjusting brakes, or # AKBRKR-S-10 if you have standard manual adjust brakes.

However it isn't much more to just replace the entire assembly with the self adjusting kits # AKEBRK-35-SA, which tends to be a better idea because chances are if the shoes on your brakes are worn out so are other components such as the springs and magnets, so it is usually cheaper to just replace the entire assembly big picture wise.
