How To Test The Control Module Of A Kwikee Electric RV Step

Question:

I have platinum series electric steps not working i have 12v to control modual lc3790605 but no volts coming out to motor. Is there a way i can bench test current modual before ordering a replacement. Tks

To test your Control Module # LC379605 you'll need a 12v battery and an extra wire harness # LC369243 to connect the control module to the battery. You'll unplug the connector from the wire harness running to your motorhome's wiring and plug the connector from the module into this spare one. You'll connect the green ground wire from control module to the negative terminal on the battery.

Then you can connect the red wire on the harness to the positive terminal of the battery, this should extend the steps. To test the door switch function you'll place the brown wire on the negative terminal of the battery and the steps should retract.

Next we can test the lockout function by touching the white wire to the positive terminal and then touching the brown wire to negative terminal. The steps should remain extended.

To test the ignition override you'll touch the yellow and white wire to the positive terminal and then the brown wire to the negative terminal. The steps should retract.

If any of these functions did not work then the issue is with the either module or the motor and would require replacement.
