In order to test the motor on what I assume, based on your search history are a set of Kwikee Electric Steps, you will first want to sever the yellow and red wires on the motor. Once you do this you will then need to use a 12 volt power source you know functions. If you take the red wire and place it on the direct 12 volt power source while grounding the yellow wire, the step should then either extend or retract. If you switch the wire leads, yellow to power and red to ground then the step will go the opposite way.

Thanks Jerred, Checked it out as u described. Motor draws current but no movement either way (steps are just hanging about 2/3 way up. So looks like I need a new motor, rather than control unit. Thamks again

@Neal You're welcome! If you let me know what series of steps you have I can look for a replacement motor.

@JerredH It appears tome that this one should work "Replacement Motor for Kwikee Electric RV Steps - 12V Part Number: LC379147" The motor home is a 2002 Newmar with Kwikee series 32 steps. The original step motor was replaced back in 2016 or so with a 1101422 214-1001 motor

@Neal Yes, if you have had it upgraded to the 1101422 you'll need the item # LC379147.
