Adjusting Roadmaster Exact Center To Prevent Steering Wheel Movement

Updated 05/30/2023 | Published 05/26/2023

Question:

RM82 RR purchased from etrailer installed on new Tiffin 32SA 24000 pound chassis with 1800 miles. The F53 the box sits on is a 2022. I am surprised that the Rv requires constant steering wheel adjustment while driving . I have read that the f53 has a history of “loose centering” if that is correct term. Anyway do you have any suggestions? Do you think I should get the Rv aligned? Etc? Also I put sumo springs on front - did not get to rear as yet. Is there anything to be done ?Many thanks for your help.

If your Tiffin Open Road Allegro 32SA had alignment issues already then yes, you should go ahead and get it aligned. Roadmaster says to ensure that there are no existing steering issues with the vehicle and to correct them prior to installation.

Once it is aligned you will need to make adjustments to the Exact Center # RM82RR. If it is pulling left you can correct it by lengthening the unit and if it is pulling right you can correct it by shortening. You might also see if the shop that aligns it will make the adjustments for you since it can be a pain to go back and forth between test driving and adjusting until you get it in the right spot.

Regarding the SumoSprings, I would recommend adding them to the rear axle to complement the ones you have on the front. They will help keep your ride smooth and further reduce that side to side motion in the back. Since it sounds like you have the 2023 model the correct part for the rear would be the # SSR-183-54-1.
