The Replacement Silicone Dust Boot w/ Metal Core for DeeMaxx Disc Brake Calipers # DE23FR is used to prevent the entrance of dirt and moisture which could cause corrosion and/or impair caliper operation.
To replace it you're going to need to slide the dust cover down to the bottom of the piston with the bottom flange hanging off just enough to start it in the groove cut in the caliper. Once that is in place, you'll slide the piston down into the caliper, and then the dust cover should slide right into place.
