Shorter Equalizer Solution for Trailer Where One Side of Equalizer Hits Frame

Question:
I recently purchased a used Kodiak 16foot utility trailer. I noticed the back tire being higher when I looked at the trailer. The seller had it on a highly lifted truck and I thought that was the issue. While rewiring the trailer and servicing the bearings I noticed the front eye of the rear spring is touching the trailer frame when sitting level and unloaded. I think someone tried to raise the trailer using a 7.75inch equalizer and shackles that are 3¹/8 . Im trying to figure out what equalizer and shackle length would be correct. I think your AP233 kit might be what I need but not sure enough to purchase yet since I wont know if Im wrong until I put the parts on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tot get your equalizer to sit level you basically just need to go with a slightly shorter one (measured from left to right). So what I would recommend is measure the length of what you have and then go with one shorter. Looking at your picture I would be willing to bet you have a 7-3/4 inch one currently so for a shorter one you could go with the part # TREQ356 which is 6-1/8 inch. Or for shorter than that we have the part # TREQ104 which is 5-3/4 inches. There would be no need to replace the equalizers.
