Can a Carry-On Trailer Be Converted From 5x4.5 Hubs to 6x5.5 Hubs
Updated 04/25/2023 | Published 04/24/2023 >
Question:
I have a small trailer that has 5x4.5 hubs. Is it possible to switch out the hubs to a 6x5.5 pattern? I would like to run the same as my truck if possible, since it is being used as a camping/offroad setup. My trailer is a 5Carry-On.

From what I could find, it looks like your trailer likely has a 3,500 lb. axle. If that is the case, you more than likely can use the CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles # CE13611.
But to be completely sure before ordering, you can check your current bearing numbers. If you have a L68149 inner bearing and L44649 outer bearing, then the hubs will work.
You will also want to make sure you have room in the wheel well for a larger tire/wheel and you will want to be cautious about what tires you use. Most vehicle tires are not rated for trailer use and you will want to ensure whatever tires/wheels you are using can be used on a trailer.
