Question:

If my 2023 Chevrolet Equinox RS has a lower active air shutter, will a Roadmaster base plate still work? Nashville Camping World said they do not think it will work.

You can still get the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523193-5 to fit, but you'll have to trim or even remove some of the air shutters in order for it to fit. Since that's quite a bit of modification Roadmaster just lists the fit as incompatible and therefore most shops will want to avoid installing the baseplate to avoid any liability.

If you haven't picked out the rest of your flat towing components then I have the following recommendations:

Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e74ZR. This tow bar comes with safety cables included and an adjustable head and shank to help keep the tow bar level between the motorhome and Equinox.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: If you have LED lights you'll need the Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RM38FR. For incandescent lights you'll need part # RM26FR instead. These kits will give you everything you need to properly display the traffic signals from your motorhome through the tail lights of your Equinox.

Braking System: Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700. This system is a one-time installation that will provide you with proportional braking. It will require you to install a Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751489 in order to get the brake light signal since your OEM wiring isn't usable.
