If you care about keeping a clean, factory look when you’re not towing, this setup fits the bill. The invisible design leaves no obtrusive crossbar or protruding brackets, and the drawbar arms stay on your tow bar instead of the vehicle. Snap-in high-density polyethylene covers keep dirt and debris out of the receivers, so the tabs slide in and out smoothly every time.
Connecting the tow bar is simple thanks to the twist-lock design. Just insert the tab into the base plate receiver, twist to lock it in place, and drop in the pull pin for extra security. When you’re done towing, tug the pin, give it a twist, and pull it free—it’s quick and clean. The brackets are spaced 21" apart with a bracket height of 15", giving you consistent geometry for setup.

This base plate bolts directly to your vehicle’s chassis with no welding required. The sturdy steel design spreads towing force evenly to reduce stress on suspension components. Every piece bolts up solidly with the included hardware for dependable strength mile after mile.
Already have a tow bar setup you like? You can keep it. This base plate works with Demco, etrailer, and Blue Ox tow bars without an adapter. If you’re running Roadmaster, just use the correct adapter—e98983, e98984, e98979, or e98981 (sold separately). An included electrical bracket lets you easily mount a round electrical connector plug so your wiring stays organized and ready to go.
This kit is designed for an easy bolt-on install using basic tools—no welding required. It comes with all necessary hardware and clear instructions to guide you through the process. Once bolted up, it’s ready for long trips and everyday towing alike without compromising the front-end looks when disconnected.

Still working perfectly. Towed the jeep about 2000 miles from WA State down to Disneyland and then to Las Vegas and back. Plus dozens of camping trips.

Hi Shawn, the etrailer Invisible Base Plates part # e66GV are not a fit for the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is why the shutters had to be removed, and the instructions didn't cover it. These base plates fit the previous 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee model, but due to changes in the fascia and bumper they're not a fit for the 2026 model due to those modifications. However, the actual frame of the 2026 Grand Cherokee is still the same as the 2025 model, so the base plates are safe to tow with.
