Question:
What gooseneck conversion would I need to replace a Lippert Turning Point 5th wheel pin box on a Grand Design Reflection 260RD? The listed tongue weight is less than 1,300lbs.

Expert Reply:
The only gooseneck adapter that can replace a Lippert Turning Point pin box is the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY48GR. As far as tongue weight goes, the loaded pin weight of your Grand Design 260RD needs to be between 1,500 lbs - 3,000 lbs range for this pin box to work properly. It has a built in scale so you can move things forward on your trailer to get the tongue weight up into this range.
You will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks for Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY49GR. The Gen-Y does not include the safety chains required by law.
