Question:

I am considering this product for a 2002 Ford Ranger Extended cab. I think the 72-inch crossbars will be excessive on my truck. Is there a 60-64- inch option available? Also, would it be reasonable/practical to just cut the crossbars down to the desired length?

The Malone TradeSport Truck Bed Ladder Rack # MAL55VR is a one size fits all ladder rack and their aren't any smaller sizes under this brand. You could potentially cut the crossbars smaller but you run the risk of damaging the crossbar and voiding the warranty so I personally wouldn't recommend going that route.

You might consider going with the Thule TracRac TracONE Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH27000XT instead. This rack is very similar in design and price and has 65" crossbars instead to get closer to your desired length.
