Can You Use Other Battery for Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness On 2018 Ram ProMaster 2500
Published 03/10/2023 >
Question:
Does the hot lead need to be connected directly to the vehicle battery or can I connect it to a separate independent battery that is not connected to the vehicle electrical system. I have a camper van and would prefer to use independent camper battery bank to power the harness. Thank you for your help.

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C58DR which is a fit for a 2018 Ram ProMaster 2500 requires a battery connection for power. The battery connection is actually what powers the trailer lights, the t-connectors just pull signal from the vehicle lights, not power. The power must come from a battery, preferably the vehicle battery which gets frequent charges from the alternator. That said, if you want to use a separate battery you have in the rear there will be no issues with this.
