It can be used for towing (if applicable) or other hitch mounted accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers. The 2" opening will allow for the greatest amount of hitch mounted accessories to choose from.
Please note, if you'll be towing then you'll also need a few other items like the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119250KIT which is a no-splice trailer wiring harness option.
