How to Determine Correct Hub & Drum For Brakes

My Trailer has no brakes What drum will I need to get?

This depends on many, many factors, so to determine the correct hub & drum assembly for your trailer, you will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them.

If you are unable to find them, you need to use a digital caliper measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch; you will also need to know your axle capacity (which should be stamped on the axle itself) and wheel bolt pattern. If you aren't sure what your wheel bolt pattern is I have linked a help article below which details how to find it.

For example, if you have a 3,500 lb axle with a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, and your bearings are L68149 (1.378" inner diameter) and L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) you would use the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 # 84546UC3.

This is a 10" hub and drum so you would need 3,500 lb 10" brakes. I have added a link below to our entire selection of hubs for you once you find this info, or if you get back to me with your bearing numbers or measurements I can try and find the right one for you.
